2020 is the year of another forgotten anniversary: 185 years since the death of Count Dmitry Khvostov, "the king of graphomaniacs". Meanwhile, Khvostov did feel like a king: a king in the field of knowledge of poetics’ rules, an authoritative judge of poetic works. His writings contain critical remarks - in varying degrees of detail - about practically all Russian poets, from Kantemir to Pushkin. Collected together, they make up a unique document: a poetic history of Russian poetry from Count 20 Khvostov - in its own way symmetrical and argumentative. The chapter on Lomonosov is the most extensive in this lengthy book. In this paper, we have systematized Khvostov's statements about Lomonosov and presented them in the form of a chapter from Kkvostov's poetics textbook. But the main character of this book will be Count Khvostov himself - reflected in the mirror of all Russian poetry. |
