Abstract
The article analyzes the literary aspect of cooperation between Iran and Russia after 1991. The author examines the foreign policy and ideological preconditions for the general development of bilateral cultural ties, as well as specific areas of cooperation in the field of promotion of the national literature and language. The activity of Iran and Russia in this area is analysed through the work of the Center of Iranian culture at the Iranian Embassy and various publishing companies involved in the process of promoting the Persian language and literature in Russian society. The author also examines their contacts with Russian institutions, such as the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Maxim Gorky Literature Institute and others. However, Russia is making far less effort to popularize the Russian language and literature in Iran. Mostly it is Iranian scientists, translators and publishing companies, such as the Shakhre-Ketab organization who carry out the promotion of the Russian writers and the Russian language in the Islamic Republic. Despite of a small scale of interaction, as a result of the intensive activity of the Center of Iranian culture and various Russian and Iranian institutions and organizations, as well as enthusiasts from the scientific and literary worlds of the two countries, there can be seen moderate success achieved on the path of developing bilateral cooperation in the field of literature, which makes it possible to intensify the process in the future
