The article summarises the results of a main event of literary life of Nizhny Novgorod during the year of literature, i.e. the project «Nizhny Novgorod Collected Works». Five years, which have passed since 2015, allow to assess its results, and comprehend to what extent the long- and short-term targets, set by the authors of the project, have been achieved. The author gives an overall characteristics of the projects, analyses its aims and purposes, narrates about principles of organising events connected with publication and promotion of book. It is specially noted that the main purpose was not only to publish a book, but to ensure that it will be read. The author considers valuable results of the project to be as follows: firstly, publishing works of authors from Nizhny Novgorod, popularisation of regional literature. Secondly, the project could show the current literary situation in Nizhny Novgorod, demonstrate its modern literary landscape. Herewith it is concluded that this aim was not achieved, because during the choosing of participants well-known authors were preferred thus the project uncovered no new names. At the same time the project has shown that there is still no systematic and complete description of Nizhny Novgorod literary process, and existing regional literary studies use outdated methods, don’t take into account the changed literary landscape
