The purpose of the article is to give an overview of the main studies devoted to the problem of the local text. The author identifies problematic and controversial themes and outlines possible prospects of development. The research considers the following articles: the works of V.N. Toporov, devoted to the St. Petersburg text, the works of N.E. Mednis devoted to supertexts in Russian literature, V.V. Abashev -Perm in Russian culture and literature of the XX century?, V.I. Shulzhenko -The Caucasus in Russian prose of the second half of the XX century: subject matter, typology of characters, artistic imagery?, E.Sh. Galimova -The Northern text of Russian literature?, theoretical works of A.G. Loshakov, S.O. Kuryanov -A few words about the Crimean text (Differentiation of the concepts of the Crimean motif, the image of the Crimea and the Crimean theme)?. The main attention is paid to the issue of terminological heterogeneity. In the author’s opinion, the interchangeability of the terms "image", "theme", "motif" and "local text" leads to the fact that the idea of the existence of a superreality of space is blurred and remains beyond the attention of researchers. The idea of a special cultural code, the mythology of space, is replaced by biographical details of the author's life in a particular city. Based on the above-mentioned works, the article concludes that the semantic center of the concept of "local text" is a special influence of space on the character of the work, a single semantic setting of all works about it. It is suggested that the terminological difficulties are connected with the lack of a developed research methodology of local texts. It is noted that the steps in this direction have already been made in the study of regional supertexts.
