Abstract
The article analyses the strategy of the metaphoric conceptualization of lyrics as an aesthetically and ontologically significant phenomenon realized in the novel Indirectly by A. Salnikov. The "alternative reality" of the novel, where "verselets" are prohibited due to the effect they produce, allows Salnikov to transform the history of Russian poetry and create mythologized biographies of its representatives, implicitly including the author's value judgments. The intersection of the two storylines, family and "creative", corresponds to the image of the main character Elena, whose interaction with poetry (or, more precisely, with a speech framed with its help) illustrates the main ideas of the independence of speech and its ability to influence the world perception, of the illusory reality, fragmentation of the world and the severance of human relations, comparability of overcoming the ontological chaos and creating a poem. A comparative analysis of the images of the novel and Salnikov's poetic works shows that the photographic ability of poetry to conquer time and death, recorded in Indirectly , through the conjugation of moment and eternity, has particular importance. The ontological role of poetry stated in the novel determines the variety of forms of representation of lyrical texts: the lines of the first poem composed by Elena correspond to the names of the chapters; the quotes from poems by Elena and famous poets of the past, presented directly or descriptively (through the characterization of images, the process of creation, the impression made, etc.), mark the main stages of the development of the plot and the main character; the use of elements of poetic speech at the architectonic level of the novel, such as rhyme and metaphor, indicates a kind of synthesis of epic and lyrical principles, confirming the idea of the comprehensive nature of speech. The lyrics in the novel perform semantic and organizing functions, having an ontological significance for the world of the work and, probably, for the aesthetic and philosophical system of A. Salnikov as a whole.
