Abstract
The article examines the influence of W. Shakespeare's tragedy "Macbeth" on A. Blok's cycle "Bubbles of the Earth". Based on the analysis of the poet's prose, Blok's idea of witches as beings connected to "other worlds" is clarified. The author highlights those features of Macbeth's witches that correspond to this idea, and reveals the similarity of circumstances in which Macbeth sees the "magical sisters", while Blok's lyrical hero receives signs from "other worlds". It is concluded that the main reason for the poet's interest in Macbeth was the depiction of human contact with "other worlds" in the play. The mystical plots of Shakespeare's tragedy and Blok's lyrical trilogy are compared, analogies are drawn between the behavior of the two characters and the consequences of their actions during the thesis period. The author suggests and proves an assumption that while creating the "Bubbles of the Earth" cycle, Blok was guided by the Scene 1 of Act 4 of the tragedy. The plot and compositional similarity of this scene and the cycle is revealed. The article presents a detailed analysis of the key poems of the cycle, establishes the literary and mythological-folklore basis of their plots and their ideological meaning.
