The article introduces into the scientific circulation and provides analysis of unpublished poems by A.B. Marienhof, kept in the archives of IWL RAS. It is noted that the discovered poems form a poetic cycle, "lyrical diary". Turning to comparative and contextual methods of research, the author concludes that this cycle can be a hoax, and cites a number of arguments in support of this position. First, in the preface to the cycle, Marienhof points out that the last entry was made in 1919, while in fact the last poem of the series is marked as written on August 12, 1918. Secondly, the general tone of the cycle and the specific persona of the lyrical work - a young poet, suspiciously observing post-revolutionary reality - fundamentally distinguish this series from other poems of the same period, published in the anthology -Yav? (-Reality?), in the collections -Konditerskaya solnts? (The Confectionery of suns") and "Magdalene" (all - 1919). Third, the images created in the cycle have not been reproduced in subsequent texts of Marienhof (this conclusion is confirmed by a comparative analysis of the poems of the cycle and such works as -Bagrovy myatezha palets tychet…? (" The crimson rebellion finger pokes ..." and -Krovyu pluyem zazorno? (-We shamefully spit out blood..."), which does not allow considering unpublished poems as "working material" for the creation of new poetics. However, despite all the convincing arguments presented, it is noted that any hoax is teleologically conditioned, whereas in this case the purpose of the hoax is not clear. In conclusion, another Marienhof's text, -Tyazheloi muzhichiei pospupyu? ("A Heavy Man's Gait...") is reported 149 to have been found in IWI, which intonationally and thematically corresponds to the poems in the almanac "Yav? (-Reality?), but for unknown reasons was not published.
