Abstract
The article analyzes structural, compositional, plot features of the hiphopera (hip-hop opera) «Orpheus & Eurydice» by Noize MC. The system of images of the hiphopera is studied from the point of view of their correlation with the ancient myth of Orpheus and Eurydice, rock opera «Orpheus and Eurydice» by A. Zhurbin and Y. Dimitrin, as well as with characteristic clich?s of contemporary mass culture. In each case, the author makes conclusions regarding the artistic and semantic motivation of the changes introduced by the author. Several general tendencies to change the perception of an ancient Greek plot through the prism of the culture of XX-XXI are identified. Special attention is paid to significant aspects of the myth, such as Orpheus‘s 137 unmotivated glance back, functional features of the image of Eurydice, visionary nature of Orpheus, the refusal to descend into the realm of the dead, the introduction of additional heroes. The conclusion is made about the internal relation between the changes in the plot of the ancient myth proposed by the composer and the author of the libretto - Noize MC - and the functions of the characters in the magic tale, highlighted by V.Y. Propp in «The Morphology of the Magic Tale». The author also concludes that the hiphopera's focus on modern realities leads to a deeper inner breakaway from the anthological material, which on the surface still appears to be a foundation of the work. This, however, fits into the general trend of rethinking the ancient plots by the modern mass culture
